The drum is surprisingly good sounding right out of the box. I tested the tuning for every note, and some notes are off by just a hair, nothing noticeable or alarming, and it doesn't make a significant difference in sound quality. Is this drum worth buying? yes. Are there better drums out there? yes. But would you rather pay $1400 for a decent drum that sounds good? Or would you rather pay 2x, even 3x this price for another drum that is just as good, perhaps slightly better? Overall, my thoughts are; it's fair for us beginners and hobby players. I would consider better handpans at handpanuni when my playing improves.
